Alex’s work ranges from smaller scale indoor and gallery based sculpture which is very often interactive and kinetic, to permanent larger scale works at sites such as Blacktown Hospital in Sydney, a respite centre for people with cerebral palsy, a truck stop in the middle of the desert, many primary schools, gardens, private collections and more . . .
Temporary installations have featured in Federation Square for Melbourne Fringe Festival, at Stringybark Sustainability Festival, Upstream, White Night, WOMAD and many other arts, culture and music festivals.
He is particularly interested in work with a delicate sense of balance and loves to make sculpture that can be touched and played with.
Alex’s primary medium is steel, for its strength, versatility, modesty and because it lends itself to so many different techniques and applications. Other metals, timber, plastics, stone, electrical and mechanical components are used where appropriate.
His work has been exhibited at many galleries including Flinders Lane Gallery, Living Arts Space in Bendigo, Horsham Regional Art Gallery, Lost Ones in Ballarat, Stockroom in Kyneton, Lot19 in Castlemaine and Yering Station in the Yarra Valley.
